Cúpla focal, cupán tae, agus craic

A fun, sociable weekend for anyone who loves Father Ted and wants to learn or brush up on Irish — on Inis Mór, in the heart of the Gaeltacht.

Why phrases first?

A good way to start learning a new language — or to refresh after many years — is to get comfortable with a few useful phrases. That’s why most self-learning approaches begin with good morning, how much something costs, or directions to the station.

Fans of the show, this way

If you’re a fan of Father Ted — and who isn’t — you already know half the vocabulary: lines that have slipped into everyday chat. “Careful now; down with that sort of thing; the money was just resting in my account.”

So if you want to start learning Irish, or polish what you once knew, what better way than a weekend with like-minded people, your favourite episodes, acting out scenes in Irish, and going home able to offer someone a cup of tea i nGaeilge.

Go on, go on, go on, go on, go on. You will, you will, you will.
We’re all going to heaven, lads!

16–18 October 2026 on Inis Mór. Programme and practical details on the Events page.
